The Big Apple experience

Well, I'm doing a horrible job of keeping up with this, but it doens't seem no one minds too much!

We land in NYC Friday around 12:30pm. It was with the understanding that my wife's parents would pick us up, take us back to their place in Jersey and we'd get a little nap in before heading back into the city for the Yankees game.

One problem... it took them three hours to go all of 20 miles to pick us up at JFK. We are told we are staying in the city. Yikes! Truly the longest day of my life.

Sports backstory: I am a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Never, never liked the Yankees. Still don't. But to go to one the three most famous ball parks in America (Wrigley, of course, and Fenway the other), was a dream. It was amazing, and I am disgusted that they are going to build a new one. This place rocks with history and excitement. You couldn't help but to get in the game. They ended up losing, but we had great seats, and we all had an absolute blast.

The next day, we kind of chill, but Saturday, we went to a cousin's high school graduation party in Poughkeepsie. Great day, and I met some more members of my wife's family.

Sunday, we walked around the Big Apple (Manhattan) all day. FAO Schwartz, Times Square, Ground Zero, and we finish the night with a trip to the top of the Empire State Building.

Monday, June 27th, our anniversary, we hang around in Jersey until time to hit JFK again. We leave around 3:45 in a driving rain storm, and land back into Greensboro, ending, for me, the absolute trip of a life time around 6pm.

Hope you have all enjoyed me reminiscing. Maybe I can get some pictures posted in some of these spots, so you might want to go back and see if I do that!

Just because I'm not commenting doesn't mean I'm not reading. :-)
